Yasunobu Shidami has created his own Japanese art world with symbolized Japanese elements such as Samurai, Geisha, Japanese Calligraphy, etc. using mixed media with Japanese sumi (ink) for his original paintings. He also produces Japanese Calligraphy T-shirts with the words which are originally written by himself.

He was born in Japan in 1978 and studied fine art for 10 years in London. After graduation he won several prizes including 1st prize Winsor & Newton for Young Artist Awards in Royal Institute of Oil Painters 2009 and Royal Society of Portrait Painters 2010, which is one of the highest painting competitions in UK. His paintings have been selected for those competitions and exhibited constantly since 2007 at Mall Galleries in London. He mainly takes commissions on oil portrait and figure paintings and prefers to work on large paintings by piling several layers of rich thick paint with his own style that produces presence of the image itself.
